Our Compromised National Security

While we cannot presume guilt at this point, today's indictment seems to begin another gloomy chapter in an already sad story. We must let the justice system do its work. But, anyone in our government that endangered the life of an American covert agent for any reason--political or otherwise--is a coward and without honor.

As the former Director of Intelligence Support for the War on Terrorism, I can testify that the leak of a covert operative's identity does grave damage to our overall national security and to our efforts in the war on terror.

DeLay's Money Still Festering

Tom DeLay's dirty money is still filling the pockets of politicians all over the country. Now that we have the Sept. 30th FEC numbers, we know that the money is still festering.

With an arrest warrant on the table, isn't it time to make every single politician give the money back!

If the money isn't given back or donated to a good cause, everyone who keeps the money is just asking for it come election time.

Don Sherwood (R-PA) has not given the almost $15,000 he has received from DeLay back. Tell him to give it back!

Taking It to the Streets...

On October 29th, Chris Carney will be the first congressional candidate to help organize and participate in a major GoodWorksPAC event.

Chris will work alongside local volunteers to support housebound senior citizens in and around Sunbury, Pa. The event is being coordinated by GoodWorks-PAC.org and the Meals-on-Wheels Program of the Sunbury-Northumberland Interfaith Council.

In addition to the Meals-On-Wheels community service event on the 29th, GoodWorksPAC is working alongside local party officials, activists, and volunteers to put together a sophisticated and effective GOTV effort for the upcoming municipal elections.

GoodWorksPAC is making a real impact in the lives of voters. This shoe-leather, take-it-to-the-streets approach to democracy holds great promise.

The National Republican Congressional Committee attacked Chris Carney in a press release today. From the Hotline:

The NRCC said Naval Reserve Lt. Cmdr./Penn State assoc. prof Chris Carney (D) was a "hypocritcal professor" who "says one thing and does another" because Carney criticized Rep. Don Sherwood (R-PA) for taking DeLay PAC money while accepting support from Rep Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL).

They are changing the subject and not answering the question. Either Don Sherwood stands with Tom DeLay or he doesn't.

They are also lying. Carney for Congress has not received any money from Rahm Emmanuel or Nancy Pelosi.

Don't let them change the subject.

Don't let them get away with lying or name-calling.

1. Call Don Sherwood at (202) 225-3731 and demand that he denounce Tom DeLay and make the NRCC stop lying about Chris Carney.

Since 1998, you have accepted over $14,800 in campaign contributions from Tom DeLay's ARMPAC.
On September 29th, Congress indicted Tom DeLay for a conspiracy to break Texas campaign finance law through one of his Political Action Committees.
Congressman Jeb Bradley (R-NH) announced that he will return every penny that he received from ARMPAC.
Our request is short and simple:

It's been over 40 years since a Democrat held the congressional seat for the 10th District of Pennsylvania. Democrat Stanley A. Prokop was a one term Congressman during the 86th Congress from 1958-60.

The streak ends in 2006.

Chris is a Lt. Commander in the Naval Reserve and has served as a top advisor on intelligence and counterterrorism at the Pentagon. In addition, Chris is a tenured Associate Professor at Penn State-Worthington Scranton, where he has taught courses in American Government, Foreign Policy, and Intelligence and Terrorism issues.
